“When former Nebraska running back Ahman Green announced in a recent podcast that he has Parkinson’s disease, he said he had noticed some early signs and sought out doctors for testing.

Even then, his doctors told him they would have thought he was in great shape had they not known to look for some nascent signals, including the way he walked — namely, his gait.

Changes in gait can serve as early warning signs for at least 18 different conditions, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s disease and peripheral artery disease, in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs, typically the legs.”
